There are two things you need to consider first before attempting to remove this.  The first is how you go infected.  I have just one world  “ZLOB”.  The zlob trojan is a fake video codec.  Already this should ring a bell in your head.  That video clip you wanted to watch last week was most likely the reason for your infection.  Fake codec’s are the number one reason for getting infected with Zlob.  Once you have the Zlob spyware installed it will go out and download several programs including Win32 Virtumonde.

The second item you need to consider is you did not have enough protection to begin with.  If you had the right protection you would not of gotten infected and not be in this mess.  To solve your protection issue and to fully remove W32 Virtumonde then you should BUY SOFTWARE TO STOP IT.  I’m tired of hearing people complain about being infected when they already know they need protection and just did not get it.

Vundo is part of the Vundo and Virtumonde family of Trojans.  This spyware is a rouge trojan and very bad stuff.  If you are infected with vundo.dll then you need to remove it ASAP.  This program goes out and downloads other malicious software onto your system.  Common symptoms include a fake anti-virus program being installed onto your system, your home page being highjacked and a ton of pop-ups.

Alternatively you can use a product like Spyware Doctor to remove this threat.  Spyware Doctor can remove Vundo.dll from your system.  You need to run the scan in safe mode in order to fully remove it but it does work. View our Vundo Removal Software page for more info.

A special free tool has been developed called Vundofix that works about 40% of the time at removing this threat.  However most people find themselves infected again as soon as they reboot because Vundofix does not remove the other spyware programs and once you re-boot you re infected again.  Vundofix does not offer active protection so that is why I don’t even bother using this tool anymore.

Virus Heat is known as rouge spyware software. Many people who have anti-virus software installed on their system wonder how it got through in the first place.  The answer is simple.  Anti-Virus software does not protect against spyware.

How do you know when you have Virus Heat?

If you are looking to remove Vundo yourself you will need the free vundofix tool by abritune.org.  This free tool does not remove the rest of the spyware programs but at least helps with the Vundo trojan.  The scan needs to be ran in safe mode.  Besides using Vundofix two other free programs that are worth trying are Spybot and Ad-aware.  If you want to do it right you really should purchase software for the best adn easiest results.
