Taking care of Virtumonde will be very time consuming.  The sad truth is this threat can not be removed manually you will need one of two things.  Expert help or software to fully remove this threat. For those out there that aren’t willing to spend any money then the only advice we can give is to format you system and fully re-install your operating system.  Chances are you will get infected again because you did not purchase any internet security software.  That is why you really should just break down and pay the few bucks for software to remove Virtumonde.  This Virtumonde site list what software works.

Only by having protection can you remove this threat.  With that said you do have several options.  You can always call a personal tech to come out and remove the spyware and viruses for you.  The cost will vary and if you want it done that day or the next you will have to pay extra at most places.  Another option is to have your computer repaired online.  This tends to work well for many people and is a little cheaper in price.  Some companies that do PC repair online are http://www.onlinecomputerrepair.org.  There are several companies out there so feel free and shop around.  You can also haul your computer into a shop to have this strain removed.  Normal turn around is a few days for most shops but cheaper then having a personal tech come out.  It’s still better to have your PC repaired online but if you want to support a local company then that is the better route to go down.

The last option you have is to purchase software to remove this threat.  Programs like Norton, Trend Mirco and Mcafee which are some of the most popular suits out there have proven worth less against this threat.  They can often times block the install and pop-ups but fail to fully remove this threat.  The only software that does fully work is Spyware Doctor.

Win32 Virtumonde is not easy to remove.  The reason is because if you are infected with this then you have several other spyware programs installed on your system as well.  We found some great guides over at Virtumonde.  Check them out for a more detailed removal instructions.

The win32 Virtumonde strain works just like the rest of the virtumonde stains on the web.  Any way you look at it it's bad stuff.  Once you remove one trace another just takes it's place.  You need to kill some of the other spyware programs first in order to fully remove this bad boy.

There are two things you need to consider first before attempting to remove this.  The first is how you go infected.  I have just one world  “ZLOB”.  The zlob trojan is a fake video codec.  Already this should ring a bell in your head.  That video clip you wanted to watch last week was most likely the reason for your infection.  Fake codec’s are the number one reason for getting infected with Zlob.  Once you have the Zlob spyware installed it will go out and download several programs including Win32 Virtumonde.

The second item you need to consider is you did not have enough protection to begin with.  If you had the right protection you would not of gotten infected and not be in this mess.  To solve your protection issue and to fully remove W32 Virtumonde then you should BUY SOFTWARE TO STOP IT.  I’m tired of hearing people complain about being infected when they already know they need protection and just did not get it.

The second option is for those who do not want to deal with it anymore and just want there computer back.  If you are not tech savvy or just don’t have the time then call a pro to fix your computer.  The people over at Online computer Repair only charge 89 bucks.  Tell them Jacob sent you over to them.  They know who I am as I tell people all the time about these guys.

What is Virtumonde?

Many people think of Virtumonde as a virus.  However this is not really acyrate.  Virtumonde also known as Vundo is really spyware / adware.  Spyware can actuallly be far worse then having a virus.  Normally a virus is meant to mess with a certain program or detroy your operating system.  Spyware on the other hand is used to sell fake products and services, install rouge programs like fake anti-spyware programs and of course pop-ups.

Symptoms of Virtumonde?

Pop-ups are the first sign that you may be infected with Virtumonde.  Others include your home page being highjacked and you taken to some site saying buy this spyware software to protect your computer.  If you notice some extra program shorcuts on your desktop with security shileds on them or they say anti-virs, sysprotect, winantispyware, spysherif or something similar then most liekly you are infected with Virtumonde. 

Anther symptom is having a spyware or anti-virus program start running on your computer.  If you did not install any anti-virus program and do not recognize this software then chances are once again you have the Virtumonde trojan.

I can not stress enough NOT to buy the software they are pudhing on you.  This will not solve your problem and you will only be wasting your money.

So how do you remove this spyware you say?

The easiest way and by far less frustrating is to go out and purchase a good Anti-spyware program.  Many times even popular once like Norton and Mcaffee will not be able to remove the Virtumonde strain.  They do a good job of blocking it in the first place but if you are already infected then I would suggest Spyware Doctor.  After purchasing this highly awarded program you need to make sure and update the program.  Then do the scan in safe mode as well for the best chances of removal.
