Don’t be A Bridezilla with Your Wedding Dresses!

To paraphrase Wikipedia, a bridezilla is the term describing the bride who acts like the Japanese monster Godzilla – difficult to deal with, unpleasant to work with, and the annoying perfectionist who leaves family and friends, wedding vendors and planners wanting to wring her neck. 

If the description fits you to a T, or at least someone sufficiently bold called your attention to the monster waiting to be unleashed within you, then it is time to shift gears towards avoiding being the proverbial bridezilla.  Let’s start with your wedding dresses. 

Set Realistic Expectations

Even the best-planned of military operations will have its share of snags.  You have to expect that setbacks, snags, disappointments and disillusionments will happen during your search for your dream wedding dresses.

Yes, that inner voice that tells you “This is your day, this is your day” ad nauseum.  You have to realize that the wedding day is not just your day.  It is also your groom’s day, your families’ day, and your friends’ day!  Think of it as an all-star cast with you in the title role – you are the star but without the supporting cast of groom and bridal party and families and friends, you are a star with no shine, no glow, no brilliance. 

You must remain sensitive to other people’s needs.  This way, you can have a great time planning your wedding because the people around you will fall all over themselves to help you.  After all, a sweet smile and a sincere “please” and “thank you” go a very long way in establishing goodwill!
