Things (which I think) that you should know about
• November 18, 2008 - Do you know that krupps coffee maker cannot be used?
If you are someone that has been brewing coffee for a while, you would have come across this brand krupps coffee maker, so what happened to it that there would such an advice?
This is actually not so much an advice but a reality. There is no coffee machine known as krupps and you cannot find any brand that call itself krupps. If you reading till this point, and you cannot help it but google this term, you would know that the correct sway to spell it krups coffee maker.
So, how are you going to use a coffee brewer that does not exist right? On the other hand, krups coffee maker is a great machine. But that, I meant the FME 12-cup coffee brewer.
Many of us find that the pricing of $40 is very affordable and the features that comes with the pricing is amazing. You get a programmable feature, a cascading brew head, a pause and serve function and even a warming plate that can maintain the freshness of your coffee for up to 5 hours.
Then contrary to belief that purchases make online is slightly pricier due to logistics, it is not true. Take my country, singapore as an example. Because the demand for coffee machines is low, the prices are fixed across all retail outlets and they fixed it at a high retail price.
And that pricing is at least 40-50% higher than the prices you would find online. Forget about $40 for krups coffee maker, if it is retailing at less than $100, it is consider a good deal here.
Anyway, if you have the time to spare, do check around and compare the pricing of the store with the websites, I strongly believe that the pricing online is much lower and a better deal.
So, the next time you are looking for this coffee maker, do remember that it is spelled krups and I think you would enjoy using this brewer. |

• October 27, 2008 - Do you know what is the world most expensive coffee?
Have you ever thought where the most expensive coffee in the world would come from? Recently, I happened to read about it, not in some coffee article but saw it in coffee maker reviews!
Before moving on world most expensive coffee, some word on this coffee maker review. The interesting thing about this review is this -the review does not mentioned anything about coffee maker.
Instead, it goes into how one can get good coffee, and highlight the various types of coffee one can enjoy. And of course, one of these articles is one on world most expensive coffee.
Where would you think is the origin of this coffee? If you are thinking about South America or Africa, you would be surprised that it come from Indonesia and it come from animal rather than plant.
This coffee is known as kopi luwak and it is actually the poop that come from civet cat. This cat would consume the coffee berry and after that its poop is what is known as kopi luwak.
Not only it is expensive, it comes in limited quantity so and of course it is not available in every place. You would stand a better chance looking for it online rather than from your local coffee roaster. |

• September 29, 2008 - Do you know how to get single serve coffe maker for free?
The first thought that crosses your mind would be what it is cheaper than? Well, let's compared with the very basic thing that you cannot live without daily and that would be your coffee shops or starbucks coffee.
A cup of coffee in these places cost approximately $3.50. And assuming that you only have a cup daily (which is impossible, since most of you would grab another cup in the afternoon or evening), this would work out to be something like $1277.50.
Now, if you would to buy a single serve coffee maker like a senseo, the machine would cost you something like $100. And the douwe egberts coffee pods is about $0.80 per piece. So, if you use a senseo to brew coffee for a year, you would be using $292 worth of coffee pods, this together with the cost of senseo would be $392!
So, if you drink your coffee from a single serve coffee maker for a year, not only could you get a single serve coffee maker for free, you can get a few of them for free!
At the time of writing, the financial world is in a turmoil and everyone is faced with great uncertainties, so, I guess this sort of savings should be a great idea to anyone right? |

• September 6, 2008 - Do you know what is the important aspect of coffee brewing?
It is really a tall order, one single element to get the perfect brew? Even, the recent
free coffee course which I browse through, which I think is very brief, has more than 1 elements!
However, if you really want me to name one, I would think it is the grind. This is because, it is one of the single thing that is very much misunderstood by many people.
Many people know that espresso machines need very fine grind and they all thought that that is the best grind, honestly, have you thought so too?
Well, actually, it is not so. The whole idea about grinding is to get an even and consistent grind and not espresso quality grind. Espresso quality grind is meant only for espresso maker.
In fact, you cannot use fine grind meant for espresso maker on a french press, you would end with over extracted coffee that taste bitter -definitely not something that you would enjoy drinking!
If you want to be one step closer to brewing perfect coffee, it is to get the right grind for your coffee maker, i.e. if it is espresso maker, then you need fine grind, french press, you need coarse grind.
However, whichever grind size that you have choosen, you need to have an even and consistent grind to ensure a good cuppa and that is what is important! |

• August 7, 2008 - Do you know who is L'omino?
What or who is that? Well, actually that is the little man with a moustache on all bialetti products. And if you do not know about bialetti, then I know that you are not a tea drinker!
Something on this espresso maker prior to moving on to that little man. What make this espresso maker so good is its non reliance on electricity. Being a stove top espresso maker, you can brew your espresso anywhere, anytime!
This is good news for folks that need good coffee to go along with that meals.
Back to L'omino, this is actually a cartoon version of Alfonso Bialetti, who is of course the founder of bialetti and naturally he designed the moka pots (this is what they called espresso maker that are not using electricity).
So, have make the introduction to this famous moustache man, would you be buying his products? To know more about his products, you can check out the link...
L'Omino (a.k.a. the small man with a moustache) on the Bialetti logo is actually a caricature of Alfonso Bialetti [1]. Alfonso Bialetti is the grandfather ... |

• July 28, 2008 - The new Tassimo is not a braun coffee makr
If you are clueless about the title, well, lets just say that you are not obsessed with coffee or coffee makers. But for those that are in the know, you would know that Tassimo, the very cool single serve coffee maker is coming out with a new model in September.
The whole internet community is talking about it. The thing is many people thought that it would be another braun coffee maker, that makes the current Tassimo. However, the new Tassimo is manufactured by a company that well, is not really into coffee makers, Bosch. I only know bosch makes Spark plug, not coffee makers!
Personally, I feel that braun coffee maker should make the new Tassimo, but that is really a personal view. I just think braun is really good in making great coffee maker, anyway, you can click on the braun coffee maker to learn more about them... |

• May 17, 2008 - Do you know how much can you save with one free coffee?
Hey all, I was actually thinking of how to post another "do you know" article when it occurs to me that the worst thing plaguing people right now is "money not enough".
Now, lets this further and explore how much one can save with a free coffee, I mean that is like a $3.50 to $5.00 thingy, so how much can it impact one's life -thinking aloud.
But, if you are a coffee drinker, which I believe most of you are, then you would know that we do not stop at one coffee, we probably have at least per day and we need it everyday.
Now, $3.50 multiply by 2 cups multiply by 365 days, and that would be a savings of $2555.00. An amount that is probably enough to send you and your love ones for a short holiday. Do you know that? I would try to post some savings tips off and on, but that coffee is really food for thoughts huh... |

• May 2, 2008 - Do you know -ru yi oil
What I am sharing here is really a very chinese product so if you are from the states, europe or any of the western countries, I think you might not have heard of this before.
However, this is not any quack method as hospitals in Singapore (now, we all know how strict Singapore system is, well, they ban Chewing gum coz is "sticky" and dirty) not only allows this product, they actually put it on their "to have" list for newborn babies.
In fact, many mothers magazine also highlight the importance of this product. So, what does it do?
Similar to some baby care products, this Ru Yi oil specific purpose is to cure colic in babies. The chinese call it getting rid of the "wind" inside the baby.
Call it any names you like, but it works. Last week, my daughter was crying non-stop, whole night. That is from 10pm all the way to nearly 6 am. And for a couple of nights non-stop. I do not know if colic is nocturnal, but it seems to be this way, as it is only at night would be condition surface...
As the story goes, one night we decided to apply ru yi oil, not that we know that it would work or anything like that, we were just trying all the baby care products we have. And of course, it works like a charm and the baby was sooth and now I am a champion for the Ru Yi oil.
Tell me any of your baby problems, and my answer would be Ru Yi oil... |

• April 27, 2008 - Do you know what is coffee socks?
Well, not that it really matters to you but from my calculation, at least 50% of asians drink coffee in this manner. In fact, coffee brewed from socks are so popular that in south east asia, that is the primary way that they would consume their coffee.
I guess to a certain extent, how to make coffee is a very culture thing. For example, most of you folks in US and Europe would be brewing your coffee from coffee makers and the way to drink it is neat or with sugar. But, in South east Asia, people are used to having their coffee brewed from socks and love their coffee with sweetend condensed milk.
And if you would to look at north asia, the folks from mongolia are actually drinking their coffee by adding salt to it!
So, that is the reason by bringing out this topic on coffee socks, that best coffee has a different definition to different folks from different culture. The grading that is done on coffee in south east asia are mainly robusta from indonesia.
There is a cult following there for robusta. In the west, arabica is what we know as the better coffee, but to the south east asian folks, they do not really like the slightly acidic taste of arabica.
What I am trying to bring across, is to look at things from other people's perspective. Because what is right or good on your side of the fence, might not be so other the side of the fence. Coffee socks' coffee provides a very good example on what is "best"... |

• April 20, 2008 - Here is how it got started...
When you watch a movie or read a book, some stories starts in the usual way, i.e long long time ago format that bring you through from the start to the end. Then, there is some stories that start from the middle then bring you the start with flashbacks and what not.
My thoughts about things started when I begin a father's duty in taking care of baby gigi, as I get more hands on caring for my daughter, my values for things in life changes. Nope, I did not became a deeply religious person overnight and declared that money is evil.
I simply look at material things from a different perspective. Take for example, coffee makers, what used to be a relentless pursuit of mine for the best coffee makers, to me now, as long as the coffee accompanied a great experience -that is the world greatest coffee.
Similarly, for other things in life. So, my post would still look at things and evaluate the things we have in our everyday lives, but I would maybe look at it from a different perspective -a perspective to assess how this thing can or has add value to our lives...
