It's Better to Give then Receive...

When I think of the 20+ years I lived experiencing nearly constant anxiety and stress I remember my focus being on "me" most of the time...

How am I feeling? What are others thinking of me? How will this decision affect my life? How can I get some relief? How can "you" help "me" with my life and anxiety disorder? Worry, worry, worry... about me, about my life, about my circumstances...

Think of how you feel at Christmas time when you give a special gift you made or bought for a significant person in your life... I mean really think about it...

It feels good doesn't it?

When you are in that mode are you even aware of your problems, anxiety or worries?

There is nothing wrong with receiving... in fact it is good to receive... but it needs to be balanced with giving...

No one would be able to receive unless someone else was willing to give...

Everyone has something they can give and it doesn't have to be something you buy...

Pick a flower for someone, make them a card and tell them you appreciate them... send an encouraging email or text message... give a compliment... help a neighbor rake their lawn...

 Try it and notice how you feel while you are in that mode...
