A Foster City resident recently got back from a vacation to find out that his checking account is out of money. Foster city police noted that there had been around seventy withdrawal transactions made during the time when the victim was out on vacation. More than one hundred thousand dollars was taken from victim.
According to the local police, the 'robberies' were made in various banks, all were made in just ten days. The crook made withdrawals from Oakland to Maryland and other nearby places.
The victim always carried his ATM with him and all the time during his vacation. While the police are considering several possibilities, they think that it is very likely that the man had been victimized by skimmers. A new trend in credit card fraud is called “skimming”, criminals use a device called skimmers to obtain credit card details. The thief made the withdrawals using a debit card.
